Bored?
Do you know that feeling: you have played The Sims 2 for a very long time and now you don't know what to do anymore!? Nothing interesting
can be found in the game or all the interesting things have been done already? Well, I hope I can help you with some of my ideas. There is
so much to do in The Sims 2 and I am sure that there are atleast some things that you haven't tried yet!!! So, ENJOY!!! :D
Make a theme-town!
Create a neighborhood where you will always hold the same theme! Like Militarytown: all sorts of secret FBI and CIA bases, UFO research
laboratories, military buildings, generals, soldiers and all that!
Or how about Fairyville? Pink castles on flowerful hills, fairy-sims and mermaids!!!
Freakyville: all simmies look awful and scary exept for the townies and NPCs, but get rid of them or change their appearance in your
business or with some hacked objects!!!
Clone Springs: all of your simmies look the same! Think about all the tension between them when they woohoo with their wife and then find
out it was their neighbour!!!
There are so much different themes for your neigborhoods to try! Turn on the TV and make a neighborhood just like the one in the movie
that's running! Just try!!!
Do a freaky legacy!
You're not so much in the legacies, but maybe you actually like doing legacies, you just don't know it yet! Make a sim as awful as you can
and try to raise his or her family from generation to generation without using any cheats! Will your simmies look prettier or more and more
scary with every generation? Who knows? Only time will tell!!!
Scary babysitting!
Make/create/adopt six babies/toddlers at once and try to keep them alive!!! Soon the parents will be crazy, especially the ones with the
romance aspiration, but if they will survive and all the rugrats will grow up well, have A+s and get into private school then you can be
sure that your (future) children will live a happy life! Once the challenge is ended, you should buy yourself something good, maybe a new
expansion pack so you would never feel bored again!!!
Play the Maxis-made neighborhoods and families!
If you haven't done it yet, then you should try playing Pleasantview, Strangetown and Veronaville (and Bluewater Village and Riverblossom
Hills if you have the required expansion packs)! Grow up all the toddlers, children and teens that Maxis created; get them married; build
them their dream homes and have kids! Meanwhile don't forget to play with their parents too! Think what life could be like for them if Maxis
would have let the game out later (or earlier)!
If you have deleted these neighborhoods, then don't be too sad! You can restore them from C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims
2\TSData\Res\UserData\Neighborhoods
The easiest way to put them in your game, is to make a click on the neighborhood you want back in your game and choose
'Copy This File' from the left side of the window. Then choose the Neighborhoods folder and click 'Copy". You can find the original
neighborhoods from: C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2\TSData\Res\UserData\Neighborhoods.
NOTE: You can't have several neighborhoods with the same number (N001, etc) and/or the same name. If you rename the neighborhood file
(N003_Neighborhood.package, for example), all the character files (N003_User00044.package), lot files (N743_Lot12.package) and all the other
files that contain the neighborhood number (for instance from N001 to N010 or from N002 to N631, etc), you won't be able to have more than
one Pleasantviews or Veronavilles that have the same names. But if you'll rename both, the neighbourhoods themselves in-game AND all the
files containing the neighborhood number, you'll be able to have several neighbourhoods that once were one.
The second way to get the old Neighborhoods back is to delete the whole The Sims 2 folder and then run The Sims 2. It will take a bit longer
to load the next time you enter your game but it will be like new! That means all the Maxis-made neighbourhoods will be there just as you
haven't played them! (NB: this deletes all of the previous neighborhoods and the changes in the Maxis-made neighborhoods. It also deletes
your custom content, so make a backup if you want to keep it! There are 2 ways to do that: 1) put all of your CC on a single lot, package it
to a file and after you have reinstalled your game install the lot again; 2) make a backup of you Downloads folder and replace the empty
folder with your old one after you've reinstalled the game).
Turn all sims into creatures!
This one requires at least one expansion pack! But it's not important which one, though it probably won't work with Open for Business only
because you\ll need to create new sims instead of turning existing sims into creatures... Your mission is to turn everyone in a neighborhood
into a zombie (University), a vampire (Nightlife), a werewolf (Pets) or a plantsim (Seasons). Everything's easy with vampires: Create a sim,
make him or her a vampire (get a bite from and existing vampire or use boolprop testingcheatsenabled true and turn your sim into a
vampire with a little cheating) and bite as much other simmies as you can, including townies, NPCs and sims created by you!!! Plantsims
require more work as you will have to make all of your sims garden too much. But you can also "give birth" to a whole bunch of plantsims
once you already have some in your game - they grow rather quickly so you'll have your neighborhood populated in no time. You can actually
even create a town full of servos. You do need at least one human sim to build the servos (unless you use the boolprop
testingcheatsenabled true cheat) and turn them on, but everyone else will be a robot! Have fun!!!
CC
Of course - CC - Custom Content! I'm definately sure that you will have much more fun if you have some custom content in the game! There are
plenty of sites full of the greatest stuff!
Or make some custom content of your own! Make some clothes or makeup with BodyShop or download Homecrafter Plus and bring some totally new
design into your simmies' homes with new walls, floors and terrainpaints! You can also try your hand at object-making with SimPE!
If you already use custom content in your game, then how about trying to play without it? You don't need to delete everything, just move
your Downloads folder to some other place until you decide to end your pains and move it back. Believe me, you'll feel rather nostalgic
remembering the good old times when you just got The Sims 2 and there was absolutely no custom content in it.
Make a Movie!
That's it! Try to make a movie using The Sims 2 Movie Maker! Give it a try and good luck (if you need any)!!! Btw, don't forget to give me a
link to it, HaHa!
Think
Think about what the next expansion pack can be! Or think about how great is The Sims 2, especially when you have played The Sims 1! Think
about the huge number of fans The Sims 2 has or the great amout of money Electronic Arts and Maxis have earned selling The Sims, The Sims 2
and the expansion packs. At last, you'll be even more obsessed with The Sims 2 after you have thought about all the things listed
above!!!
Create a fansite
That's right! You can always try to make your own site, so why not to try a fansite? A fansite of The Sims 2!!! There are so many themes: a
news-site, a downloads-site, a stories-site, a movies-site, a tips-and-tricks-site, WHATEVER!!! You can do the same thing I did: create a
neighborhood and see what will life roll for your simmies, take a huge load of screenshots and publish them all on your site!
Forums
Spend some time at different forums! You may never know how much fun it is if you haven't tried any of them yet! And you can find out so
much more about The Sims 2 that you won't even believe it! Especially when instead of just reading threads you actually take part on
different forums: BBS on TheSims2.com, ModTheSims2's forum or any other one of them! I remember the times I spend even more time on forums
than actually playing The Sims 2!!!
A Sim all Alone
Make a completely new neighborhood, open the cheat box by holding down Ctrl, Shift and C at the same time, type in "deleteallcharacters"
without the quotes and hit Enter on your keyboard. You will get rid of all the sims in your neighborhood. Now create a single sim in Create
A Family and let him/her live in the complete emptyness. Of course the game will generate NPC by itself, but your sim can actually spent
hours without meeting someone and all that time, his or her Social Need will be red and the only he/she meets will be the Social
Bunny!
Take a challenge
You can think out a challenge of your own! Like break up 30 sims, make 30 sims enemies with eachother or make 30 sims best friends. Use your
imagination and maybe your challenge will become as popular as The Legacy Challenge! You may never
know...
