I thought it would be polite to update the news page after the long delay. I wanted to say that I haven't lost interest in simming and keeping up a website. I'm still simming and, to tell the truth, quite a lot. But all the simming means less time for updating the website. No need to worry, I'm working on a few new projects for the site, too. Inbetween having tons of fun with some of my families, of course. I promise there will be big update as soon as I'm not that busy controlling the lives of my simmies. But right now I'm planning to remove some parts of the website. I'm rather sure that "Meet the Families" will be gone rather soon. It's just that it's a section that should constantly need updating. And all that updating wouldn't be a problem, really, but the problem is that I don't have any updates about the families living in Shangriquama since I almost don't play that neighbourhood anymore. Yup, you heard the truth. Shangriquama has become an utterly boring neighbourhood for me. All those perfect families and rolling hills make me want to puke rainbows, as Ferret from Ferret's Sims would say (and now that I'm at it, I would suggest you reading her story, The Spencer Legacy. That's literally hours of non-stop laughter). And besides, Shangriquama takes too long to load to play the hood on a daily basis. So instead, I'm enjoying Peachwine Isle and Baskerville by plasticbox.
That said, you should understand why all of the very few updates have almost or absolutely nothing to do with Shangriquama anymore. From now on, I'm gonna refer to Shangriquama as a region of several towns and islands, one of them being the region's capital city with the same name. I mentioned that so Shangriquama.net would make sense. The updates won't talk about Shangriquama as a town anymore but everything will take place in the region of Shangriquama. For me it makes sense.

Long time no updatey, eyh? Well, now I did some small changes like updating the About Me page, removing a typo from the homepage and closing down two aged parts of the site: orange and Jüri's Hamsterworld. I'd very much like to keep the site only Sims 2-related now, but that may change with time. I'm planning to make some bigger updates connected to Peachwine Isle, one of which is already half-done. I'll keep it in secret for now, but eventually you'll find out and hopefully you'll even like it! :)

Finally an update. This time it's a small one: a bit of a change to the storyline in "The Wild House of Fat Roommates". And with this update there's enough foundation to build some new chapters which are (hopefully) soon to come.

My last post was about a month ago and I'm really sorry that you had to wait so long to see an update. But quite a lot has happened, really.
First off, the site's subscription was ending and even though I had already paid to my host so they could prolong it, they didn't do it for more than a week. I was already in panic and worried that I'll lose both: my money and the site. But they finally lenghtened it and when I accidentally found it out yesterday evening (they usually send an e-mail), I was more than happy.
Now I updated some little details on the site. The biggest and most annoying was replacing "2006 - 2007" with "2006 - 2008" on every single page. I also fixed some typos and added 1 pixel of width to a gap on Houses from Shangriquama because it was thinner than the other ones. The last thing I did was adjusting the pop-ups of "The Orange Family". The last part was updated too - click here.
I'm also planning to upload a bunch of houses I built during the last two weeks and write a green-themed sim-story where the main character would be a plant sim. But more about that some other time...

The story called "The Wild House of Fat Roommates" was updated after a very long time. I rewrote the existing chapters removing typos and a bit of offensive language. I also added a few new chapters. All the pictures are now uploaded to this server and not PhotoBucket.com, not that it would make a difference, but it's better that way, at least in my opinion. :D
I may also update "The Orange Family" and "The Ugly Gene" in the following weeks, but I won't promise anything. Enjoy the existing updates!

I've been very hard-working today and I think I deserve a plaudit and an eclat! I made a whole new Index/Enter page that you probably already saw when you typed "shangriquama.net" into your browser's address bar or clicked a link leading to that page. You wouldn't believe how much different designs, layouts, backgrounds and codings I had to try out before I was finally satisfied with the result. And now I finally am! :D
The other big update was made on both Alexis' sites: there's now a gap between the banner and the rest of the site content. You can take a look at the new designs here: FOP and FOA. If you don't see a difference, simply reload/refresh the page! :D

I know that updates don't come often for the last few months. School's been eating up all of my time. Form 9 is harder than I had imagined but I can handle it and my grades are still good. Now I finally have two weeks of winter/Christmas holidays and I'll try to update the site as often as possible during that time. I'm not going to spend my whole holiday in front of the computer though. My Luxembourgish friend will arrive in a few days and a lot of time will be spent in her company. But since I'm not going to be with her 24/7 and since there's also no school I will be able to update the site after simming a bit more often than during schooltime. And not only site content will be updated, but also a bit of the layout. Not the main site, if you were thinking that. This time I'm planning to update the front page of Shangriquama.net and maybe a bit of The Fate of Alchemy. But I won't promise too much and instead I'll let you read the new entry of Peachwine Isle. Enjoy this little update and hope for a few more coming in the following days! Cheers, mates!

The 7th entry of Peachwine Isle is ready. This time Rosie meets the Rhubarbs. Have fun! :)

Saturday, October 13th 2007
I updated the fifth entry of Peachwine Isle with better pictures of the house of the Mwaahs and I also wrote a new entry. I hope you'll enjoy the update. Soon enough I'll upload the seventh entry as well as some new houses to Houses from Shangriquama. Until then, enjoy what's done. Click here to start reading "Peachwine Isle".

I update the Starters section with a *drumbeat* new starter (no way!). It's a tiny apartment on a garage that fits one sim. I originally wanted to name it Artist's Hideaway, but I changed the name after I didn't put an easel onto the lot. But you can still move in an artist, make him or her go to work a bit and finally earn the money for one lousy easel. An alternative way would be to sell something that's already included. Maybe the expensive "A Home for all Seasons" painting in the kitchen or the carpet in the living room area. It's your free choice.
All the rest is included though - a fire alarm and even a phone (I put that one on a wall of the balcony so it wouldn't wake up your sleeping artist).

The second update is a building that used to be a factory but was then turned into a cozy home for a family. I worked really really hard on this lot, trying to make it look as urban as possible from outside and as comfortable and home-like from the inside. I think I succeeded and I also hope you like it and will make an artist couple and their kid happy by moving them into this old house. I'm not saying the family living there has to consist of artists, it's just how I myself see it all, because I myself will move artists into the house. But do whatever you find best!
Enjoy the updates! :D

Yesterday evening/today's night, Alexis finished the second chapter of his The Fate of Alchemy series and I'm done with putting it all up to his site and updating the rest of it. And now you, my dear reader, have the great chance to actually read the story! I wish you good luck and many fun reading The Fate of Alchemy, Chapter 2, The Forgotten Prediction! Please also leave a few comments on the site, feedback always cheers up the writer!

A big, maybe even a huge ... no, big.
Anyway, a big update in the Peachwine Isle project. At first there's a new entry/part/chapter. Then three new banners that change every time you reload the page. And finally, the "Previous Entry" and "Next Entry" links have a different look! Enjoy the updates and if you feel like it, hop by Houses from Shangriquama, I have a new lot for ya!!!

Monday, August 20th 2007
The second update in "Peachwine Isle" has been uploaded - take a look at it here (and if you already were on that page, simply refresh if you can't see a difference).

Festive and ceremonial music please! The Peachwine Isle project has been uploaded to The Sims of Shangriquama!!! Hooray!!! Here you can find the three first diary entries of Rosie Ladybug, a girl discovering Peachwine Isle's history and a not-so-ordinary community. But I won't tell you more because I don't want to spoil the fun. A few things need to be mentioned though:
» It's not ready yet, it's only the beginning
» It's not that much of a story, it's more like a neighborhood tour
» I'll update it soon with more diary entries
Well, that said, go and read that thing and have fun!
I also updated the commenting system for every story there is and as you can see if you're not the first time on The Sims of Shangriquama, I uploaded a new banner (if you cannot see it, simply refresh/reload the page)! One more thing I did is a new Tip & Trick on the Tips and Tricks page. Check it out, I'm proud that I discovered it!

The last update on Houses from Shangriquama was on the 28th of June. JUNE!!! And that makes FIFTY days from the last update!!! I can hardly believe what I'm saying. I was thinking of maybe a month. But FIFTY days! Gah... I'm speachless. Sorry for being such a bad updater.
But they say it's better late than never (though it would be better if the end of the world would never come, even not late, but I'm not here to talk about such terrifying topics). So today I give you five new lots. I know it's not much after 50 days without any updates at all, but after I'm finished with the beginning of the Peachwine Isle project I'm gonna upload a whole bunch of new lots inspired by the houses I saw in Poland. Though our main destination was Romania, I must say the most inspiring place for me was Poland. Most of Poles live on the countryside and that's why there are many interesting and unique residential homes which all should be built in The Sims 2 but I don't have the power to do the whole job, so I'm going to start off with just a few. If that keeps you interested, then come back in a few weeks (and hopefully it won't take me longer) to download the result of my Poland-inspiration. But until then, keep yourself amused with these five familyhomes I built. Only one of them is furnished though, because my friend Ann told me that she likes my houses but would like to decorate them herself but that gets annoying when most of my houses are already furnished. But enough of blabber! Enjoy the updates and here they are, 5 new homes after 50 homeless days:

Ooh, it's been quite the while since the last update, as usually. I'm a bad updater probably...
But today there's something to tell: The Sims of Shangriquama has a new affiliate - Carnaby Sims - a site with retro-styled clothes, hairstyles and accesories for those a bit nostalgic ones of you. Seriously, I was in heaven after I saw the site's male suits featured on ModTheSims2, and I'm not even religious! So take a look, you won't regret.
I also have news from Peachwine Isle. The project's doin' great and I'll probably upload the beginning of it all within this week, though it may happen a bit later even if everything's ready because my internet connection has been really bad for the last time and there have been days without any connection at all. So keep your thumbs up for me!
And now, if you haven't already, click this link and visit Carnaby Sims!

Ta dah!!! Here's the all new look of The Sims of Shangriquama!!! I sure hope you like it, I worked quite hard on all of it. I still like the old look but that's exactly the problem - it's old and worn. And it doesn't showcase everything the site is about. A blurry picture of Shangriquama isn't enough when my stories also take place in Downtown and Peachwine Isle (more about that later on). And so, The Sims of Shangriquama goes from this to what you see right now. It used to be the layout of Greenville, but I had to remove the section since the Greenville neighborhood got bugged a long time ago. But it would be a pity to simply get rid of the lovely look it had so this is how this layout was born! :D
Remember the To Do List I wrote about a while ago? Well, there's not too much left to do! Here's what the list looked like:
» Make a new Enter page
» Make a Links page
» Make new Banners for The Fate of Pleasantview
» Continue with unfinished business - Greenville, orange, Jüri's Hamsterworld
» Make new buttons for this site
» Update the Meet the Families page
» Continue the stories
Well, now it looks like this:
» Update the Meet the Families page
» Continue the stories
More than a half is done and The Sims of Shangriquama's also got a new look. So, to put it in short, I'm not lazy! :P Actually I am, but I have done what I've promised. Hooray!!!

And one more thing, just to let you know, I was planning to upload the site on Friday, July 19th 2007, but I had no internet connection that day and also the next morning and before I knew, I had to run to catch up my bus to Romania. Now the 12 days have passed, I'm home happy and alive, the trip was splendid and everything's just wonderful, which is usual for me. Now that I have internet connection I uploaded the site and have to read all of my mail. Meanwhile, you can enjoy the company of, let me say it once more, all new looking The Sims of Shangriquama. Oh, and all of the older news can be found here.
